'PLR articles' is short for 'Private Label Rights Articles'. These are written by authors who later sold most or all of the intellectual property rights to their work. License may differ with each author, but basically there are very few limitations to PLR articles. The product can be modified, sold, resold or repurposed. In some cases, you can even claim yourself author of the purchased content.

Pros of PLR

Such articles will be very useful for those who need lots of fresh content for their websites or blogs. It is very time-consuming and tedious having to do research and write content. Outsourcing content creation is too expensive for small players. Using PLR articles, apart from being cost-effective, save us the grueling task of writing numerous articles from scratch.

Cons of PLR

However, there is a downside to using a PLR article as it is, without making any changes. As there will be many buyers for the same PLR article, the same content is likely to be used in many different websites. Major search engines, like Google and Yahoo, are getting tougher and tougher on duplicate content.

Best way to use PLRs

The best way to use a PLR article is to treat it as a reference guide for rewriting. Although modifying the content needs time, it is easier to do so than writing an entirely new article, as the PLR article saves us time on research. Use a free online duplicate content checker to scan the final article to ensure it can pass through the duplicate content filters of search engines.

How to acquire PLR articles

There are a lot of duplicate PLR content with different prices on the market, making the potential customer’s choice difficult. One shop, the PLR Articles Shop, is selling 95,000+ articles at US$67. It offers free downloads for potential customers to check on the content quality before deciding on any purchases. Another store, thePLRstore.com, sells PLR articles in small batches of 10-45 at prices ranging from US$1.99 to US$6.99. Such products are also available on e-Bay.

Alternatively, PLR articles can be acquired through joining membership sites which enable members to get an abundance of website content for a monthly subscription fee. All of such websites claim to provide well-researched and good quality articles. However, finding a PLR membership site with a reputation for good quality content takes time and efforts. Many people dropped out of membership sites after few months when they become disappointed with the poor quality stuff. One membership site that might be worth looking at is Monthly Content. It offers members instant access to literary l,000 products with resell rights, as well as new content on weekly basis, for a monthly subscription fee of US$47.00. Membership promotion even includes a free hosting account with customized design mini site.

Free PLRs

Free PLR content are also available on the internet. But I understand that these are often written by non-English speaking writers and they lack quality and are full of spelling and grammatical errors.
